A Contemporary Landscape in Glass and Steel
The Ritz-Carleton Residences, Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC
Developer: The Ritz-Carlton Residences HOA
Architect: Kramer Consulting Services, PC
Landscape Architect: Bell Design, Inc.
Landscape Contractor: Rolling Green
Bell Design was engaged to reimagine the condominium’s arrival sequence and streetscape along 23rd Street NW, introducing a landscape expression that complements the building’s modern steel-and-masonry architecture. The redesign centers on a series of custom planters that bring structure and greenery to the corridor while echoing the building’s crisp material palette. Integrated LED lighting within the canopy and planter assemblies enhances nighttime visibility and adds a subtle, refined glow to the façade. Updated building signage completes the composition, creating a cohesive, contemporary identity for the residence and a more welcoming pedestrian experience.
