A Kalorama woodland garden

IMG_2776a.jpg

Kalorama, Washington, DC

For this Neoclassical rowhouse we designed new a historically-inspired limestone and exposed aggregate entrance walk. In the rear, we created a sloping woodland garden with masses of native camassia and redbud that extends the landscape into neighboring Rock Creek Park. Sweeping lawns narrow with distance creating a trompe l’oeil effect that makes the garden seem far longer than it is while lawn steps create a regular rhythm as one descends towards the secluded seating area.
