A Virginia horse country residence

Property master plan

Property master plan

Residence, Charlottesville, VA (in construction)

This property, adjacent to a protected natural area, needed extensive planting to return the site to a more natural look. We proposed many native plants as well as colorful deer-tolerant adapted cultivars to create a meadow-like setting for the newly built home and extend views into the existing meadow and forest areas. Groups of new native oaks and pines reiterate the existing stand of Virginia Oaks and Pitch Pines while purple native New England Aster, pink Muhly grass, Sweetspire and Viburnum create dense hedgerow spaces to enhance privacy and produce seeds and berries to invite birds and other wildlife onto the property. We created a phased master plan to guide multi-year implementation of the garden.
